Registering for a Heartland Cyber Range CTF Event
Registration must occur before the event opens and is handled between the HCR CTF team and educators or academic coaches (hereinafter referred to as “coaches”). Students may not self-register for the event. Students must be represented by coaches who will provide contact information and be available to support students as they login and access the site on competition days. They don’t have to be available throughout the event, but should be able to connect with students periodically throughout the event to provide information supplied by the HCR CTF team and to receive information from students that may need to be reported to the HCR CTF team.
Coaches, to receive a registration packet, please send an email.
What do I need to provide for registration?
Excel File
- Coaches should obtain a blank “HCR CTF Teams and Users” spreadsheet from the HCR CTF team using the link above. Each school should use one “Teams and Users” tab. There should be no need to create additional tabs. There is an “instructions” tab in the spreadsheet that will reinforce what is presented here.
Registration Information
- Each student will need to be represented in a team and by a coach. HCR will collect school name, coach name, and coach email; team name and proposed team password; student name, proposed student username, and proposed student password. Team and student passwords can be assigned by the HCR CTF team. Student usernames can also be assigned by the HCR CTF team. Please ensure that if you have students self-report this information that they do not use profane or inappropriate language as they complete the information. This may result in student, team, or school disqualification.
- NOTE: Coaches will not be provided with account access to the CTF site. Any questions about the operation or function of questions or components of the site should be directed to the HCR CTF team.
Team Development
- Students should be divided into teams from one to four students. In no case should there be a team that is larger than four students. However, students may form one-person teams.
Student Access
Students will not have the ability to update or edit team names, student usernames, or passwords. Once created, passwords cannot be read or confirmed by the HCR CTF team, they can only be reset. Any student needing their password to be reset should contact their coach to email the HCR CTF team.
